Brisbane International is the only airport serving the Brisbane, Australia area and is one of the key ports into the Australian international market. History
Brisbane Airport was originally constructed during the Second World War as a way to haul supplies between countries. By the 1970s the original airport was considered inadequate for the size of planes and amount of travellers entering into the country, which is why additional domestic terminals were created in 1988. By 1995, the international terminal had opened and since then, the airport has expanded greatly to accommodate the number of flights entering and departing the facility on a daily basis.

Financial Services - Currency exchange outlets and ATMs are located throughout the airport facility.
Luggage Services - Luggage lockers are available in the International terminal in varying sizes.
Business Services - Executive lounges available in each terminal, but only available to airline club members.

Shopping Services - Over a dozen local and international stores as well as several souvenir outlets available. Duty-free shops are located within the international terminals.
Food Services - Various fast food restaurants are available as well as coffee shops, bars and full-service restaurants.
Other Services - First aid, prayer rooms, parents' room, showers and travel agents are available throughout the airport facility.
Parking
Short-term parking is available adjacent to the terminals. Long-term parking is connected to the international terminals via covered walkways and is charged per day or in three-day increments.
Surrounding Area
Brisbane is a wonderful place to walk around, but travellers can take advantage of buses, taxi services and shuttles. Buses run on weekdays regularly, but they are not as reliable for weekend travel. Travellers new to the area can check out the Botanic Gardens in Bamboo Grove or visit the shopper's paradise of Queen Street. Hotels and luxury resorts are located throughout the area for short-term and long-term stays. Those looking for beach time can visit the South Bank of Brisbane. With decadent dining, multi-cultural shops and the perfect beach scenery, it is an ideal getaway. Between the shopping and the beach scenes, travellers are encouraged to visit the Treasury Casino for a little gambling and then engage in the Brisbane nightlife by visiting the live shows, bars and restaurants within the 19th-century facility.
