Adelaide Airport

  • Adelaide Airport (ADL)

  • Adelaide Airport (ADL)

As the fifth busiest airport in Australia, Adelaide Airport takes on over seven million passengers each year. Its expansive new terminal can now take on 27 aircrafts and an A380 airbus. Recent improvements to the airport itself were mostly cosmetic in nature, but the control tower has doubled in height for more visibility. Now Adelaide is able to take on larger international airlines like Thai Airways and Etihad Airways.

The Adelaide Airport was originally constructed as an aerodrome in 1921. It provided services between the Adelaide and Sydney regions, but in 1947 it was determined that the areas needed more than just a small aerodrome. Thus, construction on the airport began in 1954 and was completed in 1955. In 2005, $260 million was contributed to creating a domestic and international terminal facility to handle the overflow that other international airports in the area could no longer manage.

  • Financial Services - The airport currently offers numerous ATMs throughout the facility as well as Travelex bureau de Change currency exchange offices.

  • Luggage Services - Lockers are near car rental facilities and have varying sizes.

  • Business Services - Conference facilities are available throughout international and domestic terminals.

  • Internet Services - 10 self-service internet kiosks are near the restaurant facilities and free Wi-Fi is available.

  • Shopping Services - Terminal 1 provides multiple retail services and duty-free shops.

  • Restaurant Services - There is a wide range of restaurants, bars and fast food facilities in all terminals.

  • Other Services - Medical and emergency services, children's play areas and prayer rooms available.

  • Parking
Car parks are available at Adelaide Airport for long and short-term parking. Rates vary depending on the hour or number of days registered for.
