Reno Tahoe International Airport (RNO)
Reno-Tahoe International Airport is a very unique airport. This airport, abbreviated RNO, serves both civilians and the military.
The Reno-Tahoe International Airport is the second busiest commercial airport in Nevada. It was the hub of Reno Air before it was taken over by American Airlines. It is the 61st busiest airport in the United States.
The Reno-Tahoe International Airport was built in 1929. It was originally named Hubbard Field. United Airlines purchased it in 1936 and then by the City of Reno in 1953. Within ten years, the number of flights doubled. The first terminal building for the airport was finished in 1960, and from there, the airport began to grow and more parts of it began to be constructed. It took on the name Cannon National Airport after 1979.
In 1994, the name was changed to Reno-Tahoe International Airport. More remodeling started after this. Remodeling was started in 1996, and then a new plan was created in 2008 to start in 2009. It was finished in 2010.
Modernization efforts were again announced in 2011. It was scheduled to be completed in 2012. The project's renovations were scheduled to begin in either 2012 or 2013.
