History

Owned, managed and operated by BAA Airports, Aberdeen Airport first opened on July 1934 as Dyce Airport. After securing a $10 million investment in 1977, the airport opened its new passenger terminal. Annual investments of $3 million allowed Aberdeen Airport several improvements, including the construction of the Broomfield Terminal in 1998 and a new security area in 2004. Aberdeen Airport has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the 2005 Commitment to Sustainability Award and the 2011 International Safety Award with Merit by the British Safety Council.
