Air Canada inaugurates non-stop Hamilton-Ottawa and Hamilton-Montreal service
September 18, 2005
Air Canada launched its inaugural daily non-stop service from Hamilton's John C. Munro International airport to Montreal and Ottawa today as part of planned major schedule enhancements in Canada and the United States. Effective today, Air Canada Jazz will operate four daily non-stop flights, Hamilton-Montreal and three daily non-stops, Hamilton-Ottawa using 50- seat Canadair Regional Jet aircraft. Air Canada will now offer the only non- stop flights between these cities with the opportunity for same-day return itineraries, as well as convenient connections at its Montreal hub. The new routes are being introduced to respond to new market opportunities made possible with the renewal of the carriers' fleets that has begun with the delivery of new Embraer and Bombardier jet aircraft. "The arrival of next-generation jet aircraft in our North American fleets has allowed Air Canada and Jazz to redeploy existing aircraft to these new routes," said Marc Rosenberg , Vice President Sales and Product Distribution, Air Canada at a ceremony today at John C. Munro International Airport. "Our customers in Hamilton and the Niagara Region will now benefit from more point- to-point, non-stop flights, more jet service and the lowest fares on an everyday basis". "We are pleased to welcome Air Canada as our newest business partner to Hamilton International," said Richard Koroscil, President & CEO, Hamilton International. "The daily non-stop frequencies between Hamilton-Ottawa, and Hamilton-Montreal respond to the needs of the business traveler, complements our present route network and ensures that air travelers from the Greater Golden Horseshoe can enjoy better connectivity. We look forward to a long successful relationship with Air Canada" Air Canada and Air Canada Jazz serve 60 destinations in Canada and 50 in the United States , operating more than 1,300 flights per day on 194 non-stop routes.
