Alicante Airport has a rather average size check in lobby with 98 desks, two of which are for special baggage checking. Airport History
The airport opened in 1967. It has been renovated over the years, with a larger runway being added in 1980. In 2011, the new terminal was made operational which now allows more than 20 million passengers to use the airport in a year. All the renovations have not been completed, and the airport should be fully functional in 2014.

The food court and dining area at Alicante Airport is great for those who enjoy both fast food or fine dining before takeoff. The airport has two Burger Kings on the second floor of Terminal 2, which is the departure area. One Burger King is located in the public zone of the departure terminal and the other is located in the passengers only section. Other restaurants located at the airport include Caffriccio, Carling Club, Starbucks Coffee, Il Cafe di Roma, and others, which are all located in the passengers only zone of the departure terminal. In the public zone of the terminal there are also some restaurants and other eateries which you can take advantage of. Some of these include Ars, Canas y Tapas, La Pausa, and Subway.

Other smaller airlines include BMI Baby, Holidays Czech Airlines, Iberia Express, and others. Alicante is located to the southwest of Madrid, the capital of Spain and you can easily reach Madrid from Alicante by bus, and you can reach cities and towns throughout the surrounding Madrid region by rail or tramway. There is space of over 4000 vehicles in the Alicante Airport parking area - which is built over 6 levels. It is easy to find parking, but there are no special areas for bikes so use the normal lots for parking these.
