The largest airport within the Sweden vicinity is known as the Stockholm Arlanda Airport or simply the Arlanda airport. This airport is also termed as the third biggest airport within the Nordic countries. It is located at a distance of 23 miles or 37 kilometers from the northern parts of the Stockholm city. The airport is ranked as the 20th airport within Europe in terms of passenger traffic and has served a staggering seventeen million passengers in the year 2010. The airport flights are engaged in transporting passengers from 170 major destinations across Europe. The airport also offers domestic flights throughout Sweden. The airport boosts 70 airlines that are currently working and these include Fly Nordic; Stockholm's national airline.
History
Initially the airport was used for the purpose of practice flights but with the passage of time it was opened for civil passengers. In the year 1962, it was officially inaugurated and later on it began to be used for international and domestic flights. The name of the airport "Arlanda" was decided after a competition that took place before the inauguration.

ATMs are located throughout the airport to facilitate passenger's financial transactions. Wi-Fi connection is available in all terminals in lieu of a fixed charge. The airport also facilitates the need of business man by offering 48 conference areas that can accommodate up to 700 citizens. Car parking lots including outdoor and covered are located within close proximity of the operating terminals. The price of parking varies according to the distance of the car park and a shuttle is available after eight minutes to transport passengers from terminals to desired car parking area. Busses and taxis are available outside terminals while Arlanda South and North railway stations are also located at the airport.

Normal security protocols are followed at the airport, including screening of electronics (such as laptops) and removal of shoes and belts.
