Boston Logan International Airport, also known as General Edward Lawrence Logan International Airport is a public airport owned and operated by the Massachusetts Port Authority. It is the biggest airport in New England with six runways, and with over 28 million passengers served last 2011, it is the 19th busiest airport in the entire United States. It is one of the major gateways into the United States for several European airlines and services airlines with destinations in Canada, the Caribbean and Asia.
History
The airport was founded in September 1923 under the name Jeffrey Field as an airfield for the Army Air Corps and the Massachusetts Air Guard. The airfield only started servicing commercial flights in 1927 when it housed Colonial Air Transport. The airport's extension and expansion has always been wrought with opposition from the neighboring communities due to home demolitions and forced relocations. It was renamed Logan Airport in 1943, after Gen. Edward Lawrence Logan, a Spanish-American war officer who lived in South Boston.

The airport has a variety of parking options that suit your needs and budget. It has a central parking garage, which can be accessed through any of the airport's terminals via moving sidewalks. Economy rates go for around $18 a day, while regular fares go for $27 a day. Aside from the central parking garage, the airport also has parking garages in Terminal B and Terminal E. You can either choose an hourly or daily rate, depending on your preferences and needs. The airport also has free shuttle services that go through all terminals.

For accommodations, you may stay at the Hilton, which is directly connected to the airport via a sky bridge. It offers free shuttle service, a health club, cable TV and indoor pool. Security
The airport utilizes Advanced Imaging Technology, or AIT, for its TSA screening process. The wait times for the screening process do not take longer than 15 minutes, although it is best to arrive at least two hours before flight departure. You may opt out and instead go through other screening processes like pat-downs and hand-held scanners. Liquids can be taken on board, provided they follow the 3-1-1 format. All liquids must be placed inside a 3-ounce container and sealed inside a clear plastic ziplock bag.
