History

Edinburgh Airport, completing its first flight in 1947, was first operated by the British European Airways. In 1971, the British Airports Authority, first set up in 1966, took over the airport. More recent additions to the airport included a new car park in 2004, air traffic control tower in 2005, and a car rental area in 2009. In April 2012, BAA sold its ownership and management rights over Edinburgh Airport to GIP.
