Known as the second biggest airport within Sweden, Gothenburg Landvetter Airport is located at a distance of 20 kilometers or thirteen miles from the southeastern part of the Gothenburg city. It serves approximately 4.3 million travellers on an annual basis. The airport operations are managed and controlled by the national airport corporation namely Swedavia.
History
The airport was officially inaugurated in the year 1977 when passengers that were previously travelling from the Torslanda Airport were shifted to the Landvetter airport. Since then the airport has been upgraded to provide facilities to passengers and currently is under refurbishment that would allow the airport to expand its customer base.

The airport allows passengers to avail ATM and other currency transaction services. The airport also offers a conference hall equipped with a business centre. Several other facilities are also available such as play areas for children and chapel for religious purposes. Moreover, lounges are also available for passengers travelling via Star Alliance while a Menzines lounge is available to all passengers at a cost of GBP 20. The Wi-Fi service is available within the airport premises and passengers can avail this facility by paying GBP 5 per hour or GBP 12 for day and night activation.

Any passenger that wants to travel to the town can avail the taxi or bus service that is available near the check in and arrival area. The travelling rates tend to be fixed for one way travel and two way travels. The car parking service offered by the airport is extensive with 10,000 spaces and parking rates vary according to the terminal and parking time.

Passengers have to pass through the rigorous security check before gaining access to airport facilities. The authorization zone is designated for security checks whereby security offers are entrusted with the task of ensuring that no passenger has access to any forbidden object. Passengers that wish to safely pass through the security zone but ensure that they have all the proper documents ready to show immediately to the security officer.
