London City Airport is located in East London. The airport is the 5th busiest serving the city of London and the 16th busiest in the UK. It served 3 million passengers in 2011. The London City Airport only has a single runway, and what may be even more unusual, it also has rules present to make sure that he airport is not very loud at all. This is something that is not very common, and probably due to the location on a former Docklands site. The official code for the airport is LCY.
History
In terms of many of the airports throughout England, this particular airport has a very short history. It has only been in existence since 1983, with its proposal lasting the previous 2 years. Construction has been ongoing for the airport since it started officially in 1986 and has continued for over 20 years. There is a plan in existence for continued growth and improvement on the airport that will last until the year 2030.

There is short stay parking nearest to the airport terminal. Longer stay parking is located a little further away. It is about 7 minutes from the terminal. Because the airport is located in a very easily accessible area in East London, very little effort is required to get to the rest of the city. You can hire a car, or you can take advantage of the plethora of public transportation. You can take the railway, the bus, the train, or even get a taxi to take you wherever in London you want to go. Stratford is located only 17 minutes away.
