Of the two airports serving the Monterrey area, Monterrey General Mariano Escobedo International Airport is the larger one. Over 5 million people are served by the airport each year. It features two runways and most of the flights are domestic with only a small part of the flights flying to the US. Monterrey General Mariano Escobedo International Airport is a hub for Magnicharters, Viva Aerobus as well as Aeromexico Connect. It is located approximately 15 miles Northeast of Monterrey.
History
The airport terminals were found to be too small for the amount of passengers that passed through and upgrades to amenities and expansion took place in 2003. In 2007, once again the airport terminals were expanding to meet continuing traffic. Due to its continuing importance and prime location in a popular tourist area, there are plans to further renovate the satellite building and plans to at least 3 remote positions as well as 4 jetways.

Luggage Services - No left-luggage facilities are available at MTY airport.
Car Rental Services - Located outside the Terminal A arrivals area, travellers have their choice of nine car rental agencies.
