Tenerife South-Reina Sofia Airport is an international airport within the Tenerife Island which is a part of the Canary Islands. It is one of the two airports located within the island and was established in 1978. The airport was made in the name of Queen Sofia and is situated in the metropolis of Granadilla de Abona. The TFS airport destinations mainly concern the European countries and flights are mostly engaged in international travel. Although the airport also offers flights to local destinations, they are limited in number as most of the flights to mainland Spain are handled by the island's other airport namely the Tenerife North Airport (TFN). The arrivals and departures are mostly on the time stated and this has resulted in the airport to be known for its high efficiency.
History
The inability of the existing airport to meet the requirements meant that the Tenerife authorities requested a new airport. The request was first placed in the late sixties and by 1977; major portions of the airport were constructed. The official opening of the airport was done by the Queen of Spain in 1978.

The terminals are located in close proximity of the airport terminals and they can be reached by passengers in a matter of few minutes with an estimated time of 4 minutes. The airport also offers hire car parking service and this can ease the transportation of passengers that are looking for a medium of travel. The car rental varies according to the destination area.
