WestJet introduces Here to There in-flight entertainment
Addition of service provides for live seatback TV from gate to gate
May 14, 2010 WestJet today announced the introduction of Here to There in-flight entertainment, allowing guests the opportunity to enjoy live seatback television on the ground and in the air. 'This is an exciting addition to our in-flight service,' said Bob Cummings, WestJet's Executive Vice-President, Marketing and Sales. 'We have been diligently working with Transport Canada to allow for this service on board our aircraft and we thank them for their efforts.' Here to There will allow guests with ear-bud type earphones to watch WestJet's live satellite television or pay-per-view movies from the moment they board the aircraft to the moment they leave, except during the in-flight safety demonstration. The in-flight entertainment system was previously only available once the aircraft was in the air. 'Feedback from WestJet guests showed that they are sometimes frustrated when the TVs need to be shut down in the middle of a great show or a crucial sports event,' continued Bob Cummings. 'Now they can continue to watch all the way through their flight. Our caring brand is all about improving the guest experience and this announcement is another important step.'
