WestJet set to increase Mexico service
June 11, 2008
WestJet is welcoming Ottawa’s decision to grant the carrier permission to increase scheduled service to Mexico. WestJet president Sean Durfy said Ottawa’s decision reflects ongoing government confidence in the carrier. “This announcement is another step forward in our strategic plan, which includes significant international expansion,” he said. “Our ability to deliver our exceptional guest experience to Mazatlan and San Jose del Cabo has now resulted in further designations from the transport minister.” WestJet has received immediate designations for Vancouver-Mazatlan, Calgary-Puerto Vallarta, Edmonton-Cancun, Edmonton-Puerto Vallarta, Winnipeg-Mazatlan, Winnipeg-Puerto Vallarta and Halifax-Cancun service. December 2009 designation was also received for Vancouver-Cancun, Vancouver-Puerto Vallarta, Calgary-Cancun, Winnipeg-Cancun, Toronto-Cancun, Toronto-Puerto Vallarta and Montreal-Cancun.
