The Best European Summer Destinations

2/4/2015

Picture
Summer is perhaps the most celebrated of all seasons, especially in Europe - the days are longer, people are more laid-back, and the humidity beckons everyone to spend more time outdoors. Summer is also synonymous to beach season. This time of year, almost everyone is raring to lounge in the best seaside resorts or explore coastal towns. And with the breathtaking landscape that many European cities and towns are known for, planning a trip during the summer will afford you more than the average dose of beach-lounging and martini-sipping. You get to soak in the culture and that distinctively luxurious European vibe, too.

Here are some of the best places to explore in Europe during the summer, and why. This list could be longer or shorter, depending on your personal preferences. Europe is a huge continent and any traveller may choose a destination off the beaten track and still get so much from the experience. These few suggestions, however, just may inspire you to finally start packing and look forward to exploring Europe while working on that tan!

Italy - Italian summer can be forgiving, with temperatures that rise to well above 100 degrees in some areas in the south, but who can resist a dose of Italian sunshine while you’re reading your favorite novel in the piazza or sipping your espresso in one of its quaint outdoor cafes? And there are many reasons to visit Italy in the summer too. From its gorgeous beaches and outdoor concerts to exciting summer festivals and art fairs, Italy is one of the finest European summer spots. In fact, to celebrate the start of summer, the Italians hold the Festival of the Republic yearly, on the second day of June. With the availability of Italian vacation packages, especially from Fly For Less, planning your Italian summer holiday is easy.

Spain - There is plenty to do and discover in Spain in the summer. While sun-worshippers are drawn to its many beaches during the hot season, there is more to Spain than Majorca or Costa del Sol or Costa Brava. Madrid continues to beckon the laidback tourist and the serious traveller, with its abundance of art museums, stunning gardens and royal palaces. There is also the Teatro Real Opera House where you can catch the best travelling ballet troupes in performance here. If you are in the mood for some outdoor adventure – beyond the lure of sandy beaches and 5-star resorts – you can book a trip to Canary Islands where hiking, off-road driving, scuba diving and local cuisine dining are sure to make your Spanish summer holiday more unforgettable.

Greece - Known for its charming islands, fiery sunsets and importance in classical literature, Greece is something out of a dream. There are many reasons to love Greece, but one of these is its warm weather, making the country and many of its jewel-tone islands the ideal destination for a European summer vacation. The country is known for its gorgeous assortment of beaches, some with clean, sandy shores and others strewn with pebbles and punctuated with rocky formations. And if you are looking for some serious island-hopping adventure, Greece is not bound to disappoint. All the islands are resplendent in their own way, from the romantic setting of Santorini to the party island of Mykonos. For the more adventurous souls, there is Crete, with its quaint villages and exciting landscape. For those travelling with family, a good choice would be Kefalonia, the Island of the Ionian Sea, where beautiful sights and clean beaches abound.

France - Whether you’re looking forward to visiting one of the medieval French towns or planning to hit the beaches of the beautiful French Riviera, there is no better time to explore France than during the summer. You can go canoeing through the Dordogne River or visit any of its medieval stone houses or head to La Paloma beach for some French seaside luxury. For musical festivals and plenty of fireworks, there is the walled city of Carcassonne, which draws in as many as 3 million tourists annually. And, of course, there is always the most romantic city in the world –Paris – known for its walking tours, street festivals, open-air theaters and breathtaking night lights.

The best European destinations can easily get overcrowded during the summer but there is nothing like a French vacation or an Italian retreat, when you can spend more time outdoors and the days are invariably longer. With cheap flights, package holidays and vacation cruises available from Fly For Less you can get the most out of your summer holidays in Europe, at the best deals possible!

CouchSurfing: Is it For You?

1/7/2015

couchsurfing
For many people, CouchSurfing is a new way to discover the world. Beyond simple travelling, this so-called travelling phenomenon has already drawn in more than 4 million couchsurfers, coming in from different parts of the globe. While CouchSurfing is considered by many as an exciting and inexpensive way to travel and meet new friends, is it really something for everyone? Read this article to find out whether this travelling trend is the thing for you.

What is CouchSurfing?

CouchSurfing is a way of travelling that involves sleeping at someone else’s house – on an actual bed, on the floor, or on the couch, hence the name – and, therefore, getting free accommodation. By making an account online, you can find people who are willing to have you stay at their house and sleep on their beds or couches. It is a global community of travellers who welcome one another in their respective homes. To truly participate in the CouchSurfing community, you are also expected to open your home – or your couch, at least – to people who might want to visit your town and city, and explore what it has to offer.

The Upside to CouchSurfing

One of the biggest upsides to couchsurfing is that it allows you to travel at very low cost. If you are someone who has an innate sense of adventure, enjoys meeting friends and always sticks to a specific budget when travelling, sleeping at someone else’s house can mean great savings and a more exciting way to explore a new town or city. Many people are unable to travel due to budget constraints. Hotel accommodations can eat up a huge chunk of anyone’s traveling budget. Since CouchSurfing allows you to find free accommodation, it’s a less expensive way to travel. While there are many ways to save on your travel, like booking cheap flights online from Fly For Less, CouchSurfing is considered by many as inexpensive and fun.

CouchSurfing is also a great way to meet new friends and get to know about a country’s culture from the locals themselves. You will not only be meeting your host and your host’s family, they might even introduce you to their friends. This increases your network tremendously, allowing you to soak in the local vibe, even when you are staying at your destination for only a short time.

The Downsides

Nonetheless, CouchSurfing is not without its downsides, making this travelling method not a right fit for everyone. Meeting someone for the first time is never without its accompanying awkwardness, which means that having to sleep at their place can be a quite uncomfortable experience. If you are someone who values privacy a lot and are not very flexible when it comes to accommodations, booking a hotel may be a better option for you. You can find inexpensive hotel choices, along with cheap flights, from many sources online, including Fly For Less.

In CouchSurfing, the beds or couches may not be too comfortable, causing you to get very poor rest throughout the duration of your stay. There is also the question of rules. Since you are staying at your host’s home, you will have to submit to their rules. And you can’t always expect for the best accommodations when you are staying in someone else’s home. Sleeping on the cold, hard floor or curling yourself up in a sleeping bag is always a possibility when CouchSurfing.

For many people, travelling is not only about the places they see; it is also more about the people they meet and connect with. Oftentimes, it is all about getting a feel for the place and learning more about a place’s culture and conventions. CouchSurfing allows you to experience all these, without having to spend all your savings on just one destination. Like many things that require flexibility, however, it is not designed for everyone. And if you are more comfortable spending some private time while travelling, there are always excellent alternatives available, like inexpensive hotels. In the end, traveling is about the total experience – whether you’re sleeping on a double bed in some fancy hotel or peacefully snoring on someone else’s couch.

The Do's and Don'ts of the "Airport Gift"

12/9/2014

Picture
It’s inevitable that you’re going to want to buy something at the airport. There are just too many options to choose from! And especially if you’ve got a few minutes to spare you’re not going to have to go far for some entertainment. There are a lot of restaurants if you’re hungry and even more places to shop. If you’re like most of us and get sucked in by the advertising at airports, here is Fly For Less’ list of Do’s and Don'ts concerning the "Airport Gift".

DO:

Make sure that you eat before you shop.

Eating makes you less agitated and less willing to buy something needless. If you’re hungry, aside from simply feeling uncomfortable, you can have tendencies to spend money to buy something because you feel a need to FILL something. If you’re not already craving food, then you will have a tendency to buy less because your desire for purchasing is decreased.

DON’T:

Shop if you do not need anything!

If you do not want to buy souvenirs or you don’t need something for an emergency then it’s the smartest idea to avoid the stores all together. The fact is the chances that you’ll buy something is very high, and those chances sky rocket when you actually enter the store. That’s why, if you're wanting to control your spending habits, then it would be a good ides to not even enter the store.

DO:

Window-shop all of the stores.

If you are just trying to wait until your flight takes off, then it's a good idea to walk around the entire shopping area without actually walking inside the store. This is a good way to avoid an actual purchase. By actually entering a store you increase your chances of purchases exponentially.

DON’T:

Buy things you can easily purchase someplace else.

You would be amazed at the price hikes in stores at airports. If you want to get a specific gift and can find it elsewhere, not buying it at the airport should save you a lot of money. However, if you’re just getting off your flight and
need a fast gift, then buying it on the spot is the perfect place.

DO:

Plan ahead of time.

You should know, or at least have an idea of the things you are going to buy as souvenirs. So if you’ve got some things in mind that the airport offers and you’ve worked those into your budget than why not go ahead and get them? But, if you’re aimlessly walking around just thinking to yourself, “I’ve got to get something for Bill, Jan, Sue, etc, etc” you’re likely to get something that is over priced and that you don’t or they need. So, it’s always the best idea to have a plan beforehand of what you want to buy and for about how much you want to spend on it.

Airports offer a large range of retail items. Some of their products are unique to certain airports and others can be found elsewhere. However, a lot of times the airport products are very overpriced and can be found some place else at a much lower price. If you’re wanting a specific gift or just looking around remember to make your plan and stick to it!

The UnexpectedĀ Flight Delay - Making Opportunity Out of Disaster

11/12/2014

Flight delay at the airport
If you travel a lot, or maybe just every once in a while you know the pains of the unexpected flight delay. It can be for any number of reasons – the weather, mechanical issues, late flights, or any unforeseen complication. It's these delays that can have you feeling down, frustrated, and just plain angry. But they don't have to be the worst part of trip! Fly For Less wants to give you some advice on turning your disaster into opportunity.

First - DON'T FREAK OUT! It's easy to think about what it is you have to be doing and where it is you should be going - when this happens. Just STOP - take a deep breath, inhale - exhale, a few times then sit down. It's true that changing your physical position can help you deal with anger or agitation better.

Second - TALK TO AN AIRLINE AGENT. These things do happen but you should talk to an airline agent to see if there is anything that can be done about it. BE SURE that you've calmed yourself down first before you talk to anyone. No one wants to help someone who is chewing him or her out. There are many stories of people who have talked to agents and have even gotten BENEFITS from being delayed because of a layover. A lot of times due to unexpected issues airlines will offer miles, free tickets and a host of other perks to passengers who had to wait. So, make sure you're not angry or confrontational and then go and talk to the airline about what's happened.

Third - DO SOMETHING. Don't just sit there letting your anger and annoyance of the situation fester. Do something. Try reading a book or catching up on the latest fashions by picking up a magazine. It's not good to just think about how late you will arrive at your destination. This is also a GREAT TIME to catch up on work! You can get through some of the things you were behind on and couldn't pick up on the flight. Or what about giving a call to that person you've been meaning to talk to for a while now but never found the time? This would be the perfect opportunity.

Fourth - LOOK AROUND. You should always be friendly, especially to those around you. For one, these people are in the same boat as you! Why not get to know some of the great people around you. You automatically have at least one thing in common because you both are stuck waiting. And, you never know whom you could meet at the airport. Maybe a famous person, your next boss, or even a new love interest!

It can be frustrating, having an unexpected layover, but it doesn't have to be a disaster and can even work out very well! It's all about what you do with that extra time you have. Also, it's important to keep in mind that everyone has been there – so, if you have an important meeting, you can be sure that the people you are meeting have been in this situation too.

City on a Budget - Los Angeles

9/15/2014

Los Angeles, California is not just a fantasy but also a physical city. It is considered as a Mecca for film noir, beach bodies, face lifts, mind-numbing traffic, and shopping. It is attracting thousands of local and international tourists each year. Are you planning to visit the city soon? You need not allocate a huge budget to do so.

You can still possibly go to and enjoy Los Angeles even on a tight budget. For a start, you may book for a cheap airline ticket.  Ask travel agencies like FlyForLess.ca for any flight and even accommodation that will not directly hurt your pocket. Once you get to the city, you can observe the following tips.

* Try to obtain a hotel deal if you have not booked yet before flying to the city. You can find ideal weekend rates particularly from hotels located south of the city, which cater more to weekday business travellers.
* Know the city’s geography. The metropolitan area is a really huge place. It encompasses five counties. It may take you an entire day just to drive across the area from its north to its south. Thus, to save on time, effort, and money, it is advisable to carefully plan the trip to the city. Have a timetable and set dates and times before visiting any landmark or area.
Picture
* There are many other alternative airports in the city.  LAX - Los Angeles International Airport is the most popular and busiest. But it is also prone to more possible delays. Flights to the airport can be costly. Try booking flights going to other airports like John Wayne Airport in Orange County or local airports in Long Beach and Burbank.
Picture
* Know what Beverly Hills and Hollywood offer. Skip buying movie stars’ homes tours, which are usually overpriced. Do not instantly buy maps that are sold along the roadside. Be reminded that most of the interesting and trivial information about those are fictional. If you intend to see some stars, you may instead buy tickets as a member of a studio audience.
Picture
* Enjoy the beach. There is no denying that beaches simply typify the city in the minds of most people. If you do not like to go skinny dipping, you may just watch beach volleyball games as you stroll down the beach sidewalks along Hermosa Beach, Rendondo Beach, and Manhattan Beach. You don't need not buy tickets just to go there.
Picture
* Save on admissions. Are you going to attractions with hefty admission fees? You may first check out businesses that offer multiple attraction discount packages. Check such offers online if you need to save not just money but also time and effort.
* Lastly, know the weather. You have to be certain about what to expect before going out in the city. If it will rain, you might have to re-schedule an activity to check out other alternative options. This way, you can save time, effort, and of course money.

What to Pack for a Beach Vacation

7/8/2014

Packing Tips For a Beach Holiday
Beaches and tropical resorts are among the most popular destinations for people who want to de-stress and ‘get away’ from the usual grind. From the beautiful beaches of Puerto Rico to the lovely shores of Bali, a trip to some lovely tropical island is definitely a must-do at least once each year. The availability of cheap flights and tickets online, especially from Fly For Less, makes an exotic beach holiday a possibility for everyone.
Now that you’ve got your flight booked, what should you bring on a beach vacation? Many vacationers tend to forget a few things when packing - whether it’s a trusty pair of flip-flops or regular lotion on top of the all-important sunscreen. It matters little whether you plan to travel within the country or to some exotic destination abroad. Heading to the beach requires packing right – so you can enjoy the rest of your sun-drenched days and save on money, too!

Here are the essentials to take with you on that highly-anticipated beach vacation:

1. Swimsuit and swimsuit cover ups

Heading to the beach usually involves lots of swimming, so a swimsuit should be high on your beach vacation list. In fact, make that a couple of bathing suits. It’s always good to bring an extra suit, especially if you plan to go island hopping. And don’t forget that stylish cover-up too. For guys, a comfortable shirt works fine, but women who like to look good while beach hopping will definitely love a comfy and sexy swimsuit cover-up.
Picture
Don't forget your swim suit!

Be sure to pack several pairs of flip-flops.
2. Flip-flops

Even if you’re not a flip flop kind of person, don’t forget to pack several flip flops with you when heading on a beach trip. A single pair is good enough, but if you plan to explore the rest of the island after a day of swimming, you might want to wear a nicer pair or settle for comfortable sandals instead. And if you are travelling with the rest of the family, pack in several pairs for everyone.

3. Sunscreen

This is a no-brainer, clearly. But just for reiteration purposes, make sure you are bringing loads of sunscreen with you. Ideally it should offer a sun protection factor of at least 30. A waterproof product ensures that you don’t get baked – or worse, burned – under the scorching tropical sun.
Picture
Sunscreen of at least SPF 30 is essential!

After a day in the sun. remember to moisturize!
4. Moisturizing lotion
Now this merits some mention. Some people forget to bring along regular lotion with them on beach trips, thinking that they will not need any other than sunscreen. Wrong. Pack regular lotion with you to hydrate your skin after a long day at the beach.

5. Sunglasses

You would not want to keep squinting while you’re out on the shore at midday just because you forgot to bring sunglasses with you. Sun glasses are a must for anything that has to do with the outdoors, so pack your favorite pair or bring an extra pair, just in case.
Picture
Sunglasses are a must at the beach!

A sun hat can also be stylish!
6. Sun hat

A summer hat or beach hat can give you sun and wind protection while outdoors. A pretty summer hat completes your stylish ensemble while on beach holiday, especially when paired with dark specs and comfy flip-flops.

7. A good book

Well, that is if you like to read. If you’re someone who easily gets bored with swimming or tanning or sipping martinis, a good read can serve as good company on any beach vacation day.

A good book is great at the beach!

Use your digital camera to take pictures of the beautiful beach!
8. Digital camera

There’s no reason why you should not take home a few snapshots of your lovely beach vacation with you. Pack a travel-friendly digital camera and don’t forget to take a few shots of the beautiful beach, or that incredible view from your room during sunset.

9. Spacious beach bag

Carrying your regular luggage around the beach is not a very comforting idea. Don’t forget to pack a lightweight beach bag for all your daily essentials on the sand and surf – sunscreen, sunglasses, swimsuit cover-up, camera, etc.

10. The regular travel essentials

Finally, don’t forget to bring the usual travel essentials with you, like clothes, towels, hygiene supplies, medications, cash, passport etc.

Now that you have gone through this checklist, you’re good to go! Don’t forget to book your tickets in advance or take advantage of cheap flights from Fly For Less. A good beach holiday doesn’t have to cost a fortune – all you really need is a good beach destination, a sturdy beach bag containing all your essentials and a grand time with lovely people. Happy beach-tripping!

5 Tips to Beat Jet LagĀ

4/5/2014

Picture
The human body works through a normal, regular body clock, but travelling can wreak havoc on this steady rhythm. This may cause general feelings of exhaustion, disorientation and irregular sleeping patterns, better known as jet lag. When your internal clock is unable to keep up with the changes of your external environment as you travel, your body will produce warning signs of a jet lag. Although the symptoms of a jet lag will clear up after a few days – and also as your body begins to adapt to your new surroundings – there are many effective ways for you to deal with an existing jet lag or lighten the occurrence of one before you take flight. Medications and therapy can help, but there are a few natural and proven-effective remedies that will get your internal bearings back in no time at all.

The Symptoms of Jet Lag

Since jet lag is a physical condition, its telltale signs are mostly physical-related. The most common symptoms are fatigue and weakness. Insomnia is also another clear sign of a full-blown jet lag. This is mainly due to your body’s inability to adjust to time zone changes, as you travel from one geographical location to another. Other symptoms of a jet lag include disrupted concentration, stomach complaints and urination and bowel movement problems. People with generally poor health may become more susceptible to illness during a jet lag.

How to Cope with Jet Lag – 5 Helpful Tips

These helpful tips can help you deal with an impending or existing jet lag better. Ample preparation also helps to mitigate the physical and emotional effects of jet lag. This will help you get the most out of your trip, whether you’re flying to Paris for the first time or have booked a cheap ticket from Fly for Less to Mexico.

Tip # 1 - Make some changes in your sleeping pattern.

This will help you become accustomed to the time zone of your travel destination faster, so you don’t have to suffer from disrupted sleep once you’re there. You can change your bedtime hour by sleeping an hour or two earlier or later, depending on where you are headed to. Also, adopt the new time zone hour in your watch the minute you step on the plane. Once you arrive at your destination, expose yourself to external environmental factors as soon as possible. The urge to while away in bed the entire day may overwhelm you, but the sooner you acclimatize yourself to the new time zone, the better it will be for your internal clock.

Tip # 2 - Load up on water.

Hydration can help speed up your body’s coping mechanism for jet lag. Drinking water is not only recommended before your flight; it is also best to keep yourself hydrated during the flight and right after you get off the plane. Also, don’t consume beverages that slow down hydration, like coffee, alcohol or tea. These caffeinated drinks also alter sleeping patterns, so load up only on water while travelling.

Tip # 3 - Go easy on sleeping meds.

Sleeping medications can help, but this synthetic way of forcing your body to rest cannot be helpful for the long-term. If you must take a sedative, make sure that you are capable of getting yourself off it before it becomes a habit.

Tip # 4 - Consider a stopover.

Long flights tend to produce the worst jet lag symptoms. A long flight without a stopover makes it almost impossible to adjust to a new time zone easily. You will also tend to feel more tired afterwards. Plan a stopover on flights that cover various time zones so you don’t feel as frazzled, even before you get to the travelling part of your trip.

Tip # 5 - Travel in comfortable wear.

Comfortable clothing help you rest better. Invest in the right clothes for your trip and make sure you dress according to the climate of your destination. Since it’s best to expose yourself to your new environment after arriving, make sure you have gotten enough rest during your flight – and you can’t possibly do this while wearing ill-fitting, uncomfortable clothes.

Dealing with the effects of a prolonged jet lag just when you’ve just arrived at your destination is definitely not fun. Get the best flight deals from Fly For Less and enjoy the rest of your trip by fighting off jet lag. With a few changes and lots of water, you don’t even have to rely on medications to cope effectively from jet lag!

Adventures in Orlando - More Than Just Theme Parks

3/15/2014

by Pam Stellini

My recent visit to Orlando was intended to learn a little more about what the area had to offer Canadians and when our WestJet flight landed early on a Tuesday morning, it was the beginning of five days of unexpected pleasures in a city known more for its thematic treasures.

I didn’t need to be sold on Orlando. It was a destination I had shared enthusiastically with my children when they were young, and then again when they were teens. I had visited on an incentive trip and I had also hosted a team of Canadian travel agents. I once did a secret handshake with Pumba. I was familiar.

Relaxing at The Peabody Hotel

As guests of the Peabody Hotel we were privy to the volume of conference business this city hosts in the adjacent convention facility. With 1,641 rooms the hotel is the largest non-gaming four-star in the nation and it serves the business guest with flawless consideration.

Our evening started with a drink at the Rocks Lounge. If there is an example of this bar catering to a professional clientele it would be with the beverage menu. Rocks offers an expansive wine list and creative cocktails with ingredients that are more savoury than syrupy, including Serrano ham, peppers, cucumbers, watermelon, sage and dill.

Our dinner at Napa ,was described as ‘farm to fork freshness.’ Ingredients are grown locally by a number of farms in central Florida exclusively for the restaurant. Produce, such as kale is delivered within four hours of harvesting and served with distinction by staff as proud as if they had planted the gardens themselves.

Outdoor Adventure: Forever Florida

For past investors of “swampland in Florida” we checked out your real estate. It looks fine. In fact it is all part of the 4,700 acres of conservation area of Forever Florida where we partook in the Zipline and Coach safaris.

I opted not to take the Zipline, but regretted it once I saw the calibre of the facility, the training, and the guides. The brave ones who made aerial visits across the wetlands got to zip past the iconic resident who was apparently purring in anticipation of mating season. George is a 13’ gator and his bellowing sound caused ripples in his pond that could be seen from the height of the zipliners.
Picture
Once George was distracted by his view in the sky, the rest of us boarded the coach that travelled across nine ecosystems hoping to not be greeted as ‘meals on wheels.’ We came across stunning fauna, herds of cattle and sunning gators.

Outdoor Adventure: Winter Park Scenic Boat Tour

Winter Park feels like good manners, argyle sweaters and classic novels, and makes so much sense when you know that it is the location of the summer home of the late children’s television personality Mr. Rogers.

Our capable skipper navigated us through the calm waters and canals with compelling stories of the town’s origin. For a peaceful hour we passed manicured estates and historical properties sharing the tranquility on the lake with sailboats and students among palm trees and cypress and an unexpected garden of bamboo.
Picture
Outdoor Adventure: Boggy Creek Airboat Rides

Boggy Creek Airboat Rides began as the original airboat company in Central Florida with just one six-passenger airboat in 1994. At that time, it was unheard of to stay in the Orlando area and take an airboat ride.

The Florida Everglades in south Florida are known worldwide as the location to go out on an airboat tour. It took years, according to Boggy Creek’s Airboat Rides, to make visitors aware that the headwaters to the Florida Everglades actually start right in Orlando, and the chance to visit the "Real Florida" is only minutes from Orlando's attractions.

We boarded boats propelled by large fans that skim over inches of water to see the natural habitat of many bird species as well as the famed Florida ‘gators.

Culture: The Morse Museum

The most comprehensive collection of work by Louis Comfort Tiffany is housed in the Morse Museum.

The Tiffany collection includes the leaded glass windows and lamps the artist is known for, as well as jewellery, pottery, paintings and art glass all displayed in a building as captivating as its collection.

The Laurelton Hall exhibition includes many architectural features rescued from Tiffany’s Long Island home including his original marble terrace that looks out to the garden.

Entertainment: The Blue Man Group

If I told you that the evening ended with giggling people in the audience passing along toilet paper in long unbroken sheets over our heads to the people in front of us you might think our evening was silly.

Image the competence of the Blue Man Group whose performance before the TP came out made it feel okay for us to pass toilet paper. And we didn’t just pass it, we owned it.
Picture
Entertainment: Cirque du Soleil, La Nouba

It was my first Cirque du Soleil. I will have to be forgiven the chronic gasps I emitted throughout the performance. I marvelled at all the harmonies: the human forms linking and unlinking and the energy powered by the music; gravity being defied in juggling, inertia defied in cycling. Rope skipping was a momentous event.

After the show, another joy as we met ex-Montrealer Benoît Jutras, the Musical Director since 1998 responsible for composing the music and insuring its harmonious delivery technically in sync with movement from all levels of the stage.

Theme Park: Universal Studios, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

The place is magic; from imposing historical buildings; the steam engine train, the flying car wedged in a field with a simulated engine running you are captivated by the Harry Potter aura.

At the end of a long day of magic I highly recommend the refreshing supplement of a Butterbeer or pumpkin juice, both non alcoholic. Though after my first one I thought the people in the paintings of the Portrait Gallery were talking. It may have been my imagination.
Picture
Indoor Pleasure: The Spa at The Peabody

I had the purifying facial. I didn’t want to leave. My skin was so soft and I smelled so good and the treatment room was lovely and tranquil and my towels were heated. In a sophisticated place like the Peabody, they are too refined to ask you to leave. Of course I did leave, but only after I followed a woman who prepared me a delightful beverage infused with lemon.
Picture
Shopping: Premium Outlet Shopping

There are 150 stores at this outdoor shopping centre. I highly recommend a map and a plan. I would also encourage a zigzag pattern and a speed of increasing intensity, because just when you think you have hit all of the stores you have wanted to, you will come across a new desire.

Getting there

And remember folks, WestJet, Air Canada, Sunwing and Air Transat all fly to Orlando from various Canadian gateways. Be sure to check out the cheap flights to Orlando that make amazing vacations possible!

20 Minute Hotel Room Workout for the Busy Traveller

2/11/2014

Picture
Frequent travelling and staying in hotels may possibly lead to unwanted weight gain. That is because a traveller seldom gets a good workout when travelling. The hotel may not offer access to a gym for its visitors. It does not help that sumptuous meals and refreshing beverages are constantly offered.

You don’t need to worry! If you are really determined to sweat out those extra calories you took in, you can easily perform simple exercise routines that you can even do inside your room. Hotel rooms may not be spacious enough but you can still be creative and resourceful to work up a sweat and at the same time burn off the added calories.

Even if you travel frequently and stay longer in hotels, you can still maintain your fitness. Getting in shape can be possible if you can allocate only about 20 minutes each day for working out. Here is a simple hotel room workout for busy travellers like you.

Warming up

A warm up is necessary because it raises the heart rate up. Muscles will loosen up by doing so. Your training instructor may have already warned you not to immediately proceed to your workout routines because you may possibly incur muscle injury. Here is a simple warm up activity to prepare your muscles for the quick hotel room workout.

  • Do jumping jacks for a minute. Do several sets, each taking at least 30 seconds of rest in between.

  • To make this simple activity more challenging, put pillows under your bare feet.

  • For a more difficult burn, do jumping jacks just for 10 seconds and double pace in another 10 seconds then go to slower regular pace. Perform this for about 60 seconds.

Whole-body workout

When travelling and within your hotel room, you may not have enough time to work out your entire body. This routine may take about 5 minutes to 10 minutes to perform. It is very simple. Just do several sets of pushups. You may be surprised how that exercise can utilize numerous muscles in your body.

  • Do three sets of pushups with 10 repetitions. Take 30 seconds just between a set of eight. After a minute, do a final set consisting of six repetitions. Modify the intensity if you need more challenge.

  • Try doing more repetitions (15, 12, 8). You may do additional based on your strength.

  • If you want a real workout, try to do up to 300 pushups within the time frame.

Squats and cardio

Do not forget to exercise your lower body. Squats can be effective in balancing and building resistance for the entire body. Just about several minutes of the activity can do wonders. By increasing frequency and speed, the task can also be an effective cardiovascular routine.

  • Do single leg lunges. You may opt for 12, 10, and 8 repetitions each set.

  • Increase workload by performing the sets for 30 seconds straight.

  • If you are watching TV while working out, do squats only in between commercial breaks.

Do not forget to tone down and relax after completing the 20-minute workout. Stretching is very important as it can help relax and bring back normal blood flow to your muscles. Just as the warm up is important, final stretching is also necessary.
